Re: Canopy placement at ROMP

Greetings. First, we would like to thank you for expressing your opinions. We value your input and sympathize with your concerns. There have been numerous complaints raised about the Pop-Up run at noon on Wednesday. Our reasoning for this is to give greater equity to the process of claiming pop-up spots. This year, to relieve pressure on our staff and the entry process, we are allowing RV campers in the park at 8:00 AM and tent campers in 10:00 AM on Wednesday. In order to allow our patrons a fair chance at claiming a spot along the ridge-line, we have decided to not allow the setting-up or saving of spaces before noon. As a fun addition to this policy, we have decided to frame this as a race.

Participants will line up in front of the marked line at noon and “race” for spots. However, the race is not a mandatory condition for setting up a pop-up; it is simply the initial starting time for placing them. If someone is unable or unwilling to participate, a stand-in runner can be found. However, if someone wants to have no part in the race or arrives after noon, that does not preclude them from setting up a canopy. There is no end time for the race, so after the initial runners have made their dash, anyone is free to claim any available space without running up the hill. At this time in the ROMP festival process, this is the most equitable method of claiming spots due to the staggered entrance times. We hope this clears up any confusion, and please don’t hesitate to contact us with any additional questions.
